The sophomore effort by a duo of old friends is a collaboration as much as it is a split release. It documents a radical departure from the sounds and approaches hitherto associated with Djozr and Lezet , and ventures into dangerously new terrains for both artists (noise-pop for Djozr, guitar-drone for Lezet). But even despite this, the split feels more like a unified body of work than a mere collection of new songs.

Driven by the idea that came from a song I did a while back, I wanted to simply make an EP of 2-second tracks , but it became so much more than that. This idea turned into a collection of 2-second tracks that could be looped and hopefully perceived as genuine microsongs that have a clear melodic or rhythmic centre. It so happened that the stems I made and used on these were given a whole new life by my friends who also happen to be extraordinary music-makers. They provided an entire collection of songs that way surpassed the core EP and made me realise once again that collaboration and exchange are the only real path to music exploration and growth / Igor Jovanovic, March 2015

attach to the email one mp3 file of a one-minute (60 seconds exactly) audio work

in the email state this information:

Contact address (email address or website). This address will be published.

Audio works longer than one minute (60 seconds exactly) or less than 30 seconds (a half minute) will be rejected.
Audio works must be in mp3 format. All other formats will be rejected.
Send only one audio work. If you send more than one with an email all of your recordings will be rejected.
mp3s should be of the highest quality possible. 44.1 kHz, 320 kbps mp3 recommended.

Visual artworks are also being accepted. Visual art must be in jpeg format, and must not exceed 500 KB in size. All formats other than jpeg will be rejected. Send only one visual artwork.

Any and all styles, themes and content will be accepted.

These themes, styles, ideas and keywords are suggested and encouraged: mail art, postal art, correspondence art, collaboration, collage, chance process, DIY, homemade music, experimental music, electronic music, noise, field recordings, cut-ups, lo-fi, lo-tech, circuit bending, hacking, punk folk, compilation, anarcho-libertarianism, Samizdat, art of the everyday, fluxus, spoken word, spontaneous poetics, guerilla and street music, uncovering the latent potentials of the Internet for networking, cultural inclusivity and openness and interactivity.

All audio and visual artworks will be published exclusively online at the Internet Archive. As soon as I receive 60 minutes of audio material I will create a special page on the Internet Archive and will publish a volume of the project. Audio and visual works will be added to the project volumes in the order that they are received. Each time that I collect 60 minutes of audio I will publish a new volume.

ATTENTION PARTICIPANTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL EMAIL AUDIO ART PROJECT!
please collaborate with a new contact from the project for a future compilation volume!

Individuals are allowed to contribute one solo track OR one track by one of their usual groups on each volume of the project. Contributors are encouraged to make contact with other project participants. Individuals are now allowed to contribute an unlimited number of collaboration tracks with other project participants per volume. Each collab track should be with a different collaborator or set of collaborators!

This project will terminate on April 1, 2011. No contributions will be accepted after that date.

This project was created and is curated by Hal McGee: It is my fondest hope that this project will promote contact, networking, exchange of sounds and ideas among audio artists all over Planet Earth.

These themes, styles, ideas and keywords are suggested and encouraged: mail art, postal art, correspondence art, collaboration, collage, chance process, DIY, homemade music, experimental music, electronic music, noise, field recordings, cut-ups, lo-fi, lo-tech, circuit bending, hacking, punk folk, compilation, anarcho-libertarianism, Samizdat, art of the everyday, fluxus, spoken word, spontaneous poetics, guerilla and street music, uncovering the latent potentials of the Internet for networking, cultural inclusivity and openness and interactivity.

All audio and visual artworks will be published exclusively online at the Internet Archive. As soon as I receive 60 minutes of audio material I will create a special page on the Internet Archive and will publish a volume of the project. Audio and visual works will be added to the project volumes in the order that they are received. Each time that I collect 60 minutes of audio I will publish a new volume.

The Homemade Music Movement has grown from the roots of the Mail Art Movement, and in order to pay due respect and acknowledge these origins, I propose an international EMAIL audio art project in which contributors will send to me a one-minute miniature audio work in mp3 format (plus visual works if desired) attached to an email. MELD is the series of Lezet's albums [http://www.myspace.com/lezetmeld] on which he explores the possibilities of remote collaborations with avantgarde artists form all over the world.
On MELD5 Lezet and his collaborators naturally blend piano improvisations and electronic noises, desperate ambient structures and deceptively simple beats.
"I collaborate with artists in a number of ways - we take each other's released or unreleased bits and pieces and use it as timbre, or we take another one's entire song and make a reinterpretation/reconstruction/deconstruction/improvised medley of the original piece. Sometimes the track is the result of a simple idea or sequence being exchanged back and forth until it becomes a complete track".

I was apprenticed by award winning artist Ron Antonick of Gen X Tattoos, Cleveland. I have been tattooing since 1998 and have owned my own shop since 2003. Mann from Mushroomhead and Ryan Dunn from MTV's Jackass and Viva la Bam. Erik Mattiews from Propain, Todd Smith from Dog Fashion Disco and my bro Craig who has been known to blaze notes on the big stage with the likes of guitar wizard Paul Gilbert. I also have a comedy phone prank album which has gained international noteriety by having been used by bands like Tool, Racer X, Mushroomhead, Mastodon, Sepultura and Raging Speedhorn to date. Craig's roots lie in serious classical training with one of his earliest performances of Samuel Barber's Piano Sonata earning him the Honor Award from the Detroit Musicians League. He also has a Bachelors Degree in Music Composition from Wayne State University in Detroit , Michigan . His music has been performed all over the Los Angeles area including The El-Rey Theater, Universal Bar and Grill,The Gigue, Club Lush & The Temple Bar and Grille. His engineering and music transcribing credits include Wendy Carlos, Eddie Jobson, Glen Campbell & Michael Narada Walden. He is currently working on several multi-media projects in the Detroit area, not limited to any one genre or influence. djozr (pronounced /joe-zur/) is an ambient glitch / drone project.
"Much of my music is based on the idea of capturing a fleeting moment and curling up and living in it for awhile, exploring every nook and cranny, and this track is no exception. Hopefully I got the feeling of "lezet-ness" from the original track down; every piece of music and noise on this track has its genesis in a sample from "not of the loins," slowed down, sped up, repeated at irregular intervals, and/or cut into minuscule pieces."
