THEY CAME FOR THE WHALES is a Camembert Électrique compilation exploring the hidden languages of the oceans and the strange possibility that the first dialogue with an intelligence from elsewhere may never have been addressed to humanity.
The artists gathered here draw from whale songs, marine bioacoustics and the sonic architectures of the underwater world. Some use recordings of whales; others imitate aquatic vocalisations, transform submerged textures, invent impossible oceanic dialects, or build entirely new sonic ecosystems from the abyss. Music, experimental electronics, sound collage and hybrid forms converge in this ocean of signals. A collection of transmissions, echoes and unknown languages. Perhaps we were never the ones being contacted.
